Create focused Objective cycles for individual teams to tailor the goal-setting process to their unique needs. This article covers how to set up a limited cycle, manage participants, and ensure a seamless experience for both admins and end users.
Why use limited Objective cycles?
Limiting an Objective cycle to specific participants can help teams:
Stay focused on team-specific goals
Align objectives with team workflows
Reduce noise in company-wide cycles
This approach is especially useful for tactical planning or piloting goal-setting processes in smaller groups.
How to create a limited Objective cycle
Toggle Admin View
Click Objectives from the left side menu
Click Create Cycle
In the first section of the setup screen, choose Select people
Use the user picker to add specific people or teams
Tip: Use filters in the user picker to quickly find the right participants.
Note: If you don’t include yourself (as an Admin) in the cycle, you’ll be able to monitor it from the Company View, but you won’t be able to create objectives within it.
End-user experience
Team members experience limited cycles just like standard ones. To make things clearer:
Name the cycle with the team or department in mind (e.g., "Marketing Q3 Objectives")
This helps participants feel ownership and makes it easier to manage multiple cycles
Managing participants in an open cycle
Add participants to an existing limited cycle
Go to the cycle overview
Use the Actions menu to select Add participants
Use the user picker to include new employees
Remove participants from a limited cycle
If the user has no objectives:
Go to the cycle overview
Use the Actions menu beside their name
Select Remove from cycle
If the user has existing objectives:
Open the Objective by clicking on the Objective icon
Move their objectives to a different cycle using the Move to Another Cycle option
Remove them from the current cycle as above
Note: Objectives must be reassigned before removing someone from a cycle if they've already created goals.
Setting up team-specific Objective cycles empowers teams to work more efficiently while maintaining clarity and control across your organization. This flexibility helps you scale goal-setting without overwhelming employees or admins.
