Manage your team's objectives in Small Improvements to stay aligned on goals and up-to-date on progress. This guide walks you through browsing, creating, and updating objectives for your team and using the Team Overview for strategic oversight.
Getting Started: Admin Setup Required
Before you can manage objectives, an HR Admin needs to create an objectives cycle in order to:
Define time frames for each objectives cycle
Configure settings like labels and statuses
Once the cycle opens, everyone can start creating objectives. As a manager, you’ll get access to tools to view, edit, and update your team's goals.
See Objectives for a Specific Person
Navigate to the employee's Profile page by searching their name in the search box in the lower left corner of the screen.
On the profile page, you'll see the employee's activity across all of our modules. Scroll to the Objectives section or use filters to view only the objectives.
View and Manage Your Team's Objectives
To browse your team’s current and past objectives:
Go to your Objectives dashboard.
Click the Team tab at the top of the page.
Here you can Browse or Analyze your team's objectives.
💡 Tip: The Browse view is best for reviewing specific objectives in detail. The Analyze view give you a high-level look at all of your team's objectives and allows you to send nudges (i.e. reminders).
Create Objectives for Your Team
You can create objectives from several places:
From the Bottom Navigation
Click the Create (+) button.
Select Objective and choose the team member who will own the objective.
From your Objectives Dashboard
Navigate to your Objectives dashboard.
Click + Create Objective and choose the team member who will own the objective.
From the Analyze view
Open your Objectives dashboard and navigate to the Team tab.
Expand a team member's section in the list using the button in the Actions column.
Click + Create Objective.
Use the Analyze View for Strategic Oversight
The Analyze view (found under Objectives > Team) gives a high-level overview of all objectives in a given cycle. Each objective appears as a square card. Clicking a card will open up the full details for that objective.
From here, you can:
Create or edit objectives for team members
Update statuses or completion percentages to track progress
Adjust weightings to reflect priority
Send nudges (i.e. reminders) to team members
Visualize Progress with Charts
Click Show Charts.
View bar charts based on status labels and categories (if enabled by your HR Admins).
Click on bars to filter objectives by status or category.
Hover over bars to see distribution percentages.
Clone Objectives to Multiple People
You can clone an objective to multiple people at once, which is helpful for setting shared team goals. This is a more advanced feature, so we've explained it in detail here.
Using the Objectives module helps align goals, hone focus, and reduce back-and-forth. With just a few clicks, you can keep your team on track and make strategic adjustments to support your company's big-picture success.
